I am Opened

I am opened like the flood of the world;

opened like the oyster

retrieved from the bottom of the sea.

But many waters have claimed me,

many oceans, many seas have dragged me down,

and so it is only by Thy grace,

my God, that I have been cracked

apart, relieved

of my dutiful abasement,

keeper of my own continental heart

through all Thy floods, Thy storms,

I am opened forever.
